‘Everybody’s Talking About Jamie’
The Theatre Royal Winchester set the stage for an unforgettable experience as students from The Henry Beaufort School (HB) performed the musical ‘Everybody’s Talking About Jamie’- Teen Edition.
The production tells the heartfelt story of Jamie New, a 16 year old who rises above prejudice to embrace his true self and step into the spotlight. Themes of self-acceptance, resilience, and the strength of community echoed through the performance, aligning perfectly with HB’s core values of Pride, Happiness, and Ambition.
Spanning three nights in January, the performances were a resounding success. The students delivered a heartfelt and dynamic portrayal which captivated the audience. Their energy and enthusiasm brought the characters to life in a way which was both inspiring and unforgettable. It was a shining example of ambition in action, as the cast worked tirelessly to deliver a production of the highest standard.

“‘Everybody’s Talking About Jamie’ and so they should! What a magnificent, complex, funny and heart wrenching performance. We have to remember these are young people, taking on real adult issues and performing it in a superb way. Well done to all my colleagues and our students who have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to make this happen. I have so much admiration for all of you involved in this production.”

Our students have truly embodied these themes, and their performances over the three nights, was nothing short of spectacular. ‘Everybody’s Talking About Jamie’ is a story of triumph and authenticity, and the performance of the students at The Henry Beaufort School left audiences inspired, delivering a powerful message about the importance of embracing one’s true self. The experience brought happiness not only to the performers, who gained such confidence through their performance but also to the audience, who left the theatre uplifted and inspired.
As the final curtain fell, applause filled the theatre - a testament to the hard work, dedication and talent of all The Henry Beaufort School students. For all who attended, ‘Everybody’s Talking About Jamie’ – Teen Edition, it will remain a cherished memory that celebrates the very values of Pride, Happiness, and Ambition from The Henry Beaufort School, a top 10 school in Hampshire (DfE 2024).
