Before starting their personal portfolio projects we will firstly explore photographic principles and techniques to enable students to access the specific skills required for the course. Students will be required to work independently and creatively and have an active interest in all aspects of photography.
Please note: This option cannot be taken with Art, Craft & Design.
Photography contains two components:
The Personal Portfolio 60%
Students will work on photographic projects from themes which are set by their teachers.
For each project students will produce supporting studies – artist/photographer research, contact sheets, analysis and annotation, manipulation and editing using computer software as well as their final photographs.
The Externally Set Assignment 40%
Students will work on an externally set theme
Students will produce preparatory research, photographic studies and experimentation/development for around 10 weeks
Students will have 10 hours of sustained focus to produce their personal responses – finished photographs
