Thematic study and historic environment – this topic examines changing medicine through time c1250 to the Western Front 1914-1918.
Period studies that provide an unfolding narrative – this topic will follow the story of the Superpowers after 1945 and the development of the Cold War.
Modern non-British depth studies – the non-British in-depth study from the modern era, examines the popular topic of Germany after WW1. There is a focus on interpretations of history in this in-depth study.
Medieval and early modern British depth studies – here we examine how Britain changed after the Norman conquest, with the focus on political, social, economic and religious changes.
Years 7&8
By investigating and analysing past events from a range of eras, the study of history enables students to gain a greater understanding of humanity and the social and cultural differences. Analysing chronology, significance, causation, change and continuity and evidence are all core aspects of our 5 year curriculum. Students study history relating to Britain from the Anglo-Saxon period through to the late 20th Century as well as wider, diverse cultures and societies.
SMSC in History
SMSC is integrated within History. For example, History considers the humanitarian issues raised through current past events, such as the Holocaust.
